The Amvrakikos Gulf also known as the Gulf of Arta or the Gulf of Actium located in the Ionian Sea in northwestern Greece. About 40 km (25 miles) long and 15 km (9 miles) wide, it is one of the largest enclosed gulfs in Greece.
The towns of Preveza and Vonitsa lie on its shores. A thriving community of bottlenose dolphins lives in the Amvrakikos Gulf which is part of a larger National Park and also inhabited by loggerhead sea turtles and a rich abundance of birds including rare species.
