How do I arrange a sailing holiday in Greece?

With lots of information and advice our website www.island-sailing.com gives you an idea of what is involved when arranging your Greek sailing holiday. However, we are a British family owned and run yacht charter company and we are available most of the time to speak to you on the telephone or answer any emails you send us. If, on the rare occasion we cannot answer the phone please email us and we will call you straight back or reply to your message.

We can answer any questions you may have about sailing holidays in Greece, from all the flight options to our airport in Greece to where the best places to moor up when you visit the many beautiful harbours and bays in Lefkas, Kefalonia, Ithaca, Meganissi, Corfu and Paxos.

How do I book my sailing holiday in Greece?

Once you have decided on when you want to come you can check that one of our yachts is available. Our season runs from April to the end of October and charter flights from the UK run every week, on Sundays usually from Gatwick and Manchester. This means your sailing holiday usually starts and ends on a Sunday. You can book for as many weeks as you like, one, two, three or more! If you wanted to fly on one of the Saturday flights from the UK you can stay in the hotel in Lefkas marina where our base is, or in one of the many hotels and apartments in the nearby area – we can help you with this and rooms can be booked by the night.

If you wanted to explore the Ionian or further afield in Greece in addition to a sailing holiday we can help you with transfers and travel arrangements. A one week sailing holiday and a one week stay in a villa in Greece is a popular choice and we can offer our knowledge and assistance if you wanted to do this.

Once you know that one of our Island Sailing yachts is available you can book your flights to Greece, usually to Preveza airport, which is only 20 minutes by car from our Lefkas marina base.  There are plenty of airlines to chose from all offering direct flights to Preveza.

Whether you are a seasoned sailor or a keen novice there will be a sailing holiday in Greece that fits your level of sailing experience and yachting qualifications.

At Island Sailing we predominantly offer bareboat sailing holidays throughout the stunning Ionian Islands of Greece. If you have previous sailing experience and either the RYA Day Skipper or ICC you can enjoy the freedom of a Greek bareboat sailing holiday on one of our brand new yachts that have been designed and equipped for perfect Mediterranean yachting.

For those who like the freedom and flexibility that bareboat yacht charter provides but would feel happier with  the safety net that traditional flotilla sailing holidays can offer why not join a 'mini flotilla'. A mini flotilla yacht charter consists of around six yachts with a lead boat and crew.  Joining a mini flotilla offers you the chance to sail your own yacht with the back-up of an experienced and knowledgeable lead boat and crew. For experienced sailors the mini flotilla provides lots of helpful advice about the area together with the social advantage of sailing in a group.

If you want to experience a sailing holiday in Greece but have not sailed for a while or have not sailed in Greece before you may like the idea of our ‘assisted bareboat sailing’ where you have an Island Sailing experienced skipper on your boat for a few hours or a day or two at the start of your holiday who can offer guidance and support in any aspect of sailing together with lots of knowledge and experience of the sailing area in the Ionian Islands of Greece.

If you have no experience or qualifications or you just fancy putting your feet up for your whole sailing holiday in Greece we can offer skippered yacht charter where you have a skipper onboard for the whole trip. Remember, your skipper stays onboard throughout the holiday so he/she will need a berth or cabin (our yachts have 2 cabins and 2 spare berths in the saloon area.
