Island Sailing Summer 2012 Ionian Islands Yacht Charter Availability Update

Date:
Mon, 18/06/2012

Our Ionian summer sailing season is well underway. The weather is beautiful, currently in the high 80’s, sunny with wonderful blue skies. Bareboat and skippered charters are being enjoyed and Ionian sailing courses and flotillas have all set sail. Winds have been generally N-NW 1-2 in the mornings building to 3-4’s in the afternoon with calm evenings. Flight prices are still OK – even in peak season during August the airlines’ seem to be cheaper than last year. The tavernas and cafes are open for great food and warm hospitality (and of course ice cold Mythos!) and with the best pound-euro exchange rate in 2 years (10% better than 2011) you can eat and drink for less.

Best Wishes & Happy Sailing!

Flotilla Sailing

Spaces on the flotillas are booking fast. Whilst the South Ionian flotillas remain as popular as ever there are an increasing number of people enjoying the north Ionian as well. If you are thinking about sailing in an Ionian flotilla this summer please contact us to check availability.

The Northern Ionian flotilla takes in the beautiful islands of Paxos and anti-Paxos as well as picturesque waterfront villages and traditional small towns on the mainland including Plataria, Mourtos and Parga. A nice sail from Lefkas or short hop from Corfu to the nearby mainland shores you will find small fishing villages, island groups with crystal clear water perfect for swimming and snorkeling and historic towns with Venetian fortresses. The northern Ionian offers fantastic sailing, beautiful natural harbours, secluded swimming spots, quiet hideaways, tranquil walks and vibrant towns steeped in history.

How are our customers finding life in the Ionian Islands in 2012?

Here are just a few comments from customers who have already enjoyed a sailing holiday in the Ionian with us this year.

We wish to thank you both, along with Alan for one of life's great experiences which all of us want to repeat as soon as possible and as often as practicable.  Your yacht was immaculate and of the highest standard, as was the service from you all. The sailing we had under Alan`s instruction was so simple and exciting, even though we had never sailed such a large yacht. The islands and tavernas that we visited were what memories are made of and the people we met amongst the yachting fraternity and the owners of the Tavernas without exception (which is rare this day and age) was very welcoming and helpful, you were left wanting for nothing and it was all made so easy, that's how holidays should be. Lefkada, Meganissi, especially Vathi are an absolute must to see and absorb. Looking earnestly to our return visit. The Roberts Family, Cheshire: May 2012

This has been our sixth sailing holiday in Greece but the first with Island Sailing. Despite all the bad press and financial problems Greece has had, the holiday experience is exactly the same as in previous years. Regarding Island Sailing. Well the service they provide is excellent.  The boat was impeccably clean, very well equipped and had nice little extras which demonstrated excellent standards of care and service. So would we use this organisation again? Absolutely. Would we recommend them? Absolutely  Dave & Andi, Staffordshire June 2012

Just wanted to send a brief note of thanks for another wonderful week in the Ionian. As always everything was meticulously managed and it was a delight to sail Alina again. As for the 'Greek crisis', the UK media reports seemed a million miles away from life in the Ionian. Our experience was that shops were well stocked, staff and service in the restaurants were as friendly as always and island life was calm and tranquil, we had a wonderful time and look forward to returning again as soon as we can.
