Learn to Sail in Greece

Learn to Sail holidays are perfect if you would like a sailing holiday but have little or no previous sailing experience.

If you are looking for a gentle, fun introduction to sailing with plenty of time to spend relaxing and enjoying the Greek islands a learn to sail holiday offers the perfect balance. Sail with one of our friendly and professional skippers and get involved sailing the yacht, swimming in bays and sunbathing on deck as much or as little as you want.

You can also sail along with one of our flotillas if you like, which is great way for children to make new friends and for adults to meet new people who enjoy sailing.

How a Learn to Sail Holiday works

Complete beginners and novices can learn to sail, safe in the knowledge that an experienced skipper is on hand so you can learn the basics of sailing and get the most from your sailing holiday.

Sail on a modern yacht at your own pace, drop anchor for a swim or snorkel in the clear warm waters. Explore coves, beaches and tranquil bays and discover pretty towns and breath-taking scenery. Your sailing adventure starts at the marina yacht base, from there you will sail to different islands during the holiday visiting all the best ports, bays, harbours, beaches, restaurants and tavernas.

Your friendly and professional skipper will provide informal sailing tuition and ensure that you have a gentle introduction to sailing in a relaxed, safe and fun way. There may be some of you who want to learn and practice more than others and that’s OK.

Your skipper will be there when you need them and not when you don't, they are professionals who are adept at giving their guests the time, privacy and space they need on holiday.

Exclusive use of a yacht with private sailing tuition

We offer private informal sailing tuition for couples, families and groups of friends. Private tuition means you don’t have to share a boat with people you don’t know and having your own skipper on a yacht by yourselves allows us to offer more individual attention.

Our informal and bespoke sailing tuition works extremely well for those who want to learn but also want time to relax and enjoy the Greek islands. Without exception, our customers have enjoyed the balance of learning and relaxing and enjoying the islands and have felt they have actually learnt more sailing skills this way. Bespoke tuition means that you are not forced to stick to a rigid and formal course syllabus and so takes the pressure off so you can actually enjoy your sailing holiday and learn at the same time!

Your Skipper

All the skippers are talented sailors and teachers who have been chosen for their professional and friendly approach. With lots of local knowledge they can give you tips and advice and make recommendations so you get the most out of your holiday around the Greek islands.

They all enjoy sharing their knowledge, experience and enthusiasm for sailing whilst making sure you have a fun and relaxing sailing holiday. They have taught sailing to people of all ages and abilities and will ensure you enjoy a valuable learning experience as well as a unique holiday. The skippers are either British or European who speak English who enjoy sharing their knowledge, experience and enthusiasm for sailing whilst making sure you have a fun and relaxing holiday.

Your skipper stays on the yacht and will need their own cabin so you’ll need to make sure you choose a yacht with enough sleeping space for everyone. Your skipper will help and advise about provisioning your yacht both at the start and throughout the charter. When hiring a skipper you are responsible for their food. You simply need to include them in your plans for food and drinks onboard.  In the evening you can choose to take them with you or just cover their inexpensive meal. All the skippers are extremely personable and provide discreet and unobtrusive assistance throughout your sailing holiday.  Our customers find that their skipper makes their holiday extra special as they become welcome additions on the yachts they sail.

The Greek Ionian Islands

We generally recommend the Ionian islands of Greece as they are renowned for their ideal sailing conditions and perfect for beginners learning to sail with so many safe bays to drop anchor and friendly town quays to visit. The sailing conditions are extremely favourable with consistent and steady winds with plenty of fun sailing to be had without the need to worry about anything too challenging coming your way. The Ionian islands are great for children and adults to learn to sail, explore and relax.

The marina yacht bases at Lefkas and Corfu are in close proximity to the local airports - just a 20 minute drive away and we can organise transfers for you. The full service marinas has all the shops and facilities you need at the start and end of your yacht charter.

The Ionian islands are really easy to get to with regular direct flights from the UK and Europe.

Whether you need to travel to Greece via Athens, don't have young children in your party or are looking for some more adventurous sailing you can start your trip from the base at Athens and sail around the Saronic or Cyclades islands.
