About Us

Island Sailing is one of the fastest growing British yacht charter and flotilla companies. With a love of sailing and a passion for the Greek islands we offer the best selection of latest model and brand new cruising yachts in the Ionian islands from 31 – 56 feet. We offer some of the best flotilla routes in the Mediterranean on fantastic yachts for a great mix of clients. 

Our key flotilla season runs from the start of July until mid-September. Island Sailing is committed to encouraging and supporting the development of our teams’ careers within the yachting industry and most of our crews have gone on to some amazing new roles in the yachting and marine industry following between one to three seasons with us.

About the Role

Our Lead Flotilla Crew consist of skipper and experienced First Mate/Host working as a team to offer the highest level of customer service and ensuring a safe and enjoyable sailing environment at all times.

In this fulfilling and exciting role you will take responsibility throughout the flotilla/charter to lead a group of the newest yachts around the Ionian islands, providing daily briefings, sharing knowledge of the local area and answering sailing questions.  You will advise customers sailing in your flotilla about safety and yacht systems and equipment and ensure all the yachts are moored safely at the end of each day.

You will be responsible for completing routine yacht service checks and basic / routine servicing. You will oversee the organisation of arrangements for dinner reservations for guests as well as social events such as beach BBQ’s as well as mini races and regattas.  Working as part of an enthusiastic team you will also offer support at base.

About You

Essential:

  • RYA or IYT Yachtmaster Coastal Certificate of Competence or higher
  • Commercial Endorsement
  • VHF operators licence
  • Valid First Aid certificate
  • Basic Sea Survival
  • ENG 1 or ML5
  • Working knowledge of routine yacht maintenance
  • Ability to work as a reliable and flexible member of the team
  • Be highly motivated
  • Competent swimmer
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Fluent English

Please note that due to the nature of our business, this role involves working flexible work patterns and will require working weekends and/or evenings on a rotational basis.  Applicants should be at least 18 years old and hold an EU passport.
