Draft Flotilla Skipper Course

Earn a recognised sailing licence while enjoying a flotilla holiday with family or friends in the Greek islands. If you already have some sailing experience and knowledge the Flotilla Skipper Course gives you the chance to gain your International Certificate of Competence (ICC), an internationally recognised certificate, enabling you to sail in countries like Greece where formal qualifications are compulsory.

Exclusive use of a yacht with private sailing tuition

We only offer private tuition so you don’t have to share a boat with people you don’t know. Having your own instructor on a yacht with you and your family or friends allows us to offer more individual attention. We have the widest choice of modern, highly specified and award winning yachts.

How it works

During the week you will learn and practice practical skills including boat handling under motor and sail, mooring skills and yacht preparation gaining the practical skills to become a good flotilla skipper. Your family and friends can learn new sailing skills so they become good crew members if they want to.

At the end of the week you can take the one day assessment exam which will test you on your practical sailing ability including basic boat handling, mooring skills and your knowledge of yacht preparation, basic navigation and rules of the road.

Before you take the course you will need to already have some sailing experience on a cruising yacht. You should also already have some navigational knowledge and the best way to learn this is via an online RYA Course.

What is the International Certificate of Competence

The International Certificate of Competence (ICC) is an internationally recognised certificate, enabling you to sail in countries like Greece where formal qualifications are compulsory. The UK Government has authorised the RYA (Royal Yachting Association) to issue the ICC to you on its behalf.

Our Skipper Instructors

All our Skipper Instructors are young, talented sailors and teachers who have been chosen for their professional and friendly approach. They are all ICC Instructors and we have a mix of male and females in our team. They all enjoy sharing their knowledge, experience and enthusiasm for sailing whilst making sure you have a fun and relaxing sailing holiday. They have taught sailing to people of all ages and abilities and will ensure you enjoy a valuable learning experience as well as a unique holiday. Your instructor requires a cabin onboard but they always become welcome additions on the yachts they sail.

The Ionian Islands

The Ionian islands of Greece are renowned for their ideal sailing conditions and perfect for beginners learning to sail with so many safe bays to drop anchor and friendly town quays to visit. The sailing conditions are extremely favourable with consistent and steady winds with plenty of fun sailing to be had without the need to worry about anything too challenging coming your way. The Ionian islands are great for children and adults to learn to sail, explore and relax.
