Sailing Area

The Ionian is one of the most beautiful sailing areas in the world with dramatic scenery, idyllic coves, stunning bays and a myriad of picture postcard towns and villages. The yachts' base is Corfu and from there there are are lots of cruising options including north to the 'Faraway Islands', South to Paxos and anti-Paxos, Ithaca, Lefkas, Meganissi and Kefalonia and east to the Greek mainland.

Anchorages in picturesque and tranquil bays with crystal clear water are perfect for swimming, snorkelling and enjoying all the yacht toys. Discover islands steeped in ancient Greek mythology, chic and fashionable ports where the super yachts moor with fantastic eateries and cafe bars and charming, unspoilt Greek villages surrounded by pretty beaches and cypress trees.

MORE About THE IONIAN

The Ionian islands are ideal for those new to sailing with short distances between the islands - ideal for island hopping in calm and sheltered waters. It's also perfect for children who love spending time in the water, exploring hidden coves and spotting dolphins and turtles.

For more experienced sailors all the yachts are high performance models capable of covering a good deal of ground so you can get involved with sailing the yacht and enjoy some more exhilarating sailing.

The other option is to pre-arrange a 'one-way' trip whereby you start (or finish) in Corfu and use Kefalonia at the other end of the trip. This increases the cruising area without any time constraints to get back and is a great option if you are planning to extend your holiday by staying onland before or after the sailing.

How to Spend your Days

We will help you plan your perfect route so you get the most from your holiday, whether you wish to maximise the miles covered to explore as much as possible and the time spent sailing or to enjoy short island hops and find quiet bays where you can just relax and enjoy the watersports.

You can be as involved as much as you like in the sailing. For those looking to get involved we would aim to have complete novices competently handling the boat by the end of week. Experienced sailors can get more involved sailing the yacht with the crew on hand as required.

Most people choose a combination of two to four hours per day sailing with a mixture of some overnight stops in quiet bays and others moored in pretty villages or small towns where you can explore and enjoy evenings ashore.

The typical daily pattern is usually light wind in the mornings where you can motor to a lunch time anchorage, relax or enjoy the watersports with more wind in the afternoon for some fun sailing towards your evenings' destination.

For those wanting to cover more miles, with favourable winds, you can explore the north and south Ionian in a week and visit larger towns and some of the quiter little islands as well.

Watersports, Sailing & Yacht Toys

The yachts have powerful rib/tenders ideal for the crew to take guests ashore as well as a ski boat for water-skiing, wakeboarding and towing inflatable toys like ‘ringos’ and banana boats plus there's also fishing gear on board.

You can be as involved as much or as little as you like in sailing the yacht and even complete novices can aim to be competently involved with sailing the boat by the end of week.

SUP (stand-up-paddleboarding) has taken the water sports scene by storm and its as close as any of us will get to walking on water. Its a wonderful way to explore the bays and coves, as well as getting a full body workout. The SUP’s are wide and forgiving and can be mastered in a few minutes.

The SUP’s also convert into windsurfers with a kids/learner rig and an adult rig for skimming over the waves. Whether you are an experienced diver or a beginner scuba diving can also be pre-arranged to fit in with your sailing trip.

Food & Drink

The food is a big part of the experience and the combination of good local ingredients and your chef’s imagination is a great mix. We will ask you in advance about your preferences for food and drink as well as approximately how often much you feel you may wish to eat onboard and how often ashore so the crew can forward plan.

Most people like to have a 50/50 mix of eating ashore at one of the local tavernas and enjoying the chef's food onboard. We've included some example menus and unless you tell us otherwise this will be a good example of what you will receive in a typical week.

All food and drink is included in the price except dinners and alcohol. An ordering service is available with a wine merchant in Corfu to give you chance to choose your wines in advance. At the end of your trip the crew will prepare a bill of these items and you can settle by card or cash.

What's Included & Optional Extras

Crewed yacht charters include skipper, chef, fuel, marina fees, breakfast, lunch, soft drinks, water, tea, coffee, snacks, water-skiing, wakeboarding, ringo, 2 SUPs/windsurfers, snorkelling and fishing gear.

Other Greek Island Destinations

If you are travelling to Greece via Athens and would like to discover the Saronic and Cyclades islands in the Aegean sailing area. A yacht charter from the base at Alimos marina, Athens is an ideal choice.

Sailing from Athens involves longer passages and more open seas than the Ionian to discover the bustling cosmopolitan towns with a more international feel as well as quieter fishing villages and bays.
